Domestic Short Hair-black and white - Medium - Young - Female -
Description
Precious is a CH kitty, meaning she has cerebellar hypoplasia; CH is similar to cerebral palsy in humans. CH kitties have a hard time controlling their muscles and thus have an imbalance, which makes them appear to wobble. Its a birth defect and there is no cure. However, they do learn to cope and adjust as they grow. And, they really don't know that there is anything wrong with themselves - its just an average everday thing for them. They have a life expectancy of any normal, healthy cat and love to do all the things that other cats do. Precious is just one of those cats that is named by her great ability to steal your heart away; she is so precious in every way. She is the most loving kitty and will go to any means to get in your lap & sit with you to be loved & cuddled. Words cannot describe just how wonderful she is. Its something that you have to experience yourself. She needs little extra care -- just a tall, narrow litter box to help her keep her balance & manage to not make such a mess w/ her strange jerky motions while trying to cover things over in the litter box. Without a lid or tall sides, she tends to send a lot of litter outside the box, but she does try so very hard. The only other thing she needs to be watched for is activity around steps and in climbing things. She will have great difficulty with steps at first, but may learn to handle them down the road. With her jerky motions, being around a bannister or somewhere she could fall off of something would be a hazard to her longevity. So in short, all she needs is a tall litter box & to be watched around things where she might climb or fall. Personally, I don't think that's too much of a "special needs" issue when you're gaining the companionship of this wonderful cat. Her persistance and unwillingness to allow this disability to hold her back inspires me greatly and makes me step back to take another look around and realize just how lucky some of us really are in the world. She really is a smile wrapped in black & white wobbling fur!! She is my sunshine & could just as easily be someone else's if you'd just let her come into your life.
